Millions of bats flying out of the mountain



A number that you can hardly imagine: ten million. That's a one followed by seven zeros: 10,000,000
So many bats are flying out night after night, in search of food. The whole spectacle just take half an hour. But do not worry: The winged mice are pure vegetarians. It is a rare species of fruit bats, also known as fruit vampire, because they suck out fruits.
They are smaller than a normal bat, the size is about as big as a sparrow.
If you're lucky, a huge swarm of them flies directly above your head. It almost looks like a column of smoke in the sky. Nearly silent. Only the wing beats of thousands and thousands of small bats are still to be heard and they sound like a real mystical noise.
